On the day of the royal wedding, Notts Uncut had its Facebook profile deleted along with around 50 political groups. Despite this apparently politically motivated move, the group has continued its protests against tax dodging companies, returning to Nottingham city centre on 30th April and going further afield to Lincoln on Saturday 7th May to link up with a newly formed group there.

Students and supporters meet outside the Hallward Library, University of Nottingham to protest at the suspension of Dr Rod Thornton. They called for his immediate reinstatement.

Monday saw people answering the hastily arranged call out from the Nottingham Anarchist Federation in support of a week of action against Office Angels and ATOS Origins.

Dispersal order in Forest Fields

A dispersal order will be in place in Forest Fields from Saturday 16th April until 5th Oct 2011. There has been concern from some local residents about what the implications of this will be. A public meeting was held at the Sumac on 24th April, information about the dispersal orders on lamposts has been graffitied and a poster campaign against the order has begun.

On Monday 9th May, a small group of Nottingham activists visited the offices of Office Angels and ATOS Healthcare. Organised by the local Anarchist Federation and supported by various individuals, the protests were both part of coordinated national actions.

In the middle of the local election day, I happened across another armed turnout by Nottinghamshire Police.

Dismal BNP result in Notts

The fascist BNP fielded only two candidates in Nottinghamshire for yesterday's local elections. Simon 'Bob' Brindley and Bob Coyne stood in Bilborough in Nottingham and only achieved a measly 3.5% of the vote. The party failed to get it together to field any candidates in former strongholds such as Ashfield and Broxtowe.

Mayday 2011 in the East Midlands
