As usual with 12 events in the coming fortnight life is too short to add them individually to the diary, though we'll try, so here is a summary from the fortnightly coordinating meeting.

On Sunday July 25th, People's Histreh and The Sparrows' Nest organised a showing of Ken Loach's Land and Freedom at the Broadway Cinema. The event forms part of a series of events in Nottingham commemorating the Spanish Civil War.

According to the Post, Craig Cox, the former Nottingham Uni exec member who famously held up a placard saying 'Bring Back Slavery' whilst representing the uni, was recently employed by incoming Broxtowe MP, Anna Soubry. It seems that the Tories still don't take racism seriously.

Arkwright Meadows Community Gardens was created by local Meadows residents coming together to transform part of this disused, unloved, rubbish-strewn playing field into a green space for the local people to use.

Work has been continuing at EcoWorks with the Straw Bale building in Nottingham. The building, now being fully enclosed with the main doors having being constructed and fitted All window frames fitted last year. Earlier this year, guttering and assorted woodwork has been completed.

The JB Spray squat in Radford, Nottingham is under threat of eviction. The occupiers, who have been in the building since May 2009, have been served with notice of a court date for 2nd August. The landlord is intending to gain a possession order and make homeless the many people who have been living in the building for over a year. Police discover Cannabis Growing Operations near Woodborough Road, Nottingham

Years after their issue to all serving police officers in Nottinghamshire, I am still finding that most officers don't know of their provison or of the nature of agreements already made with police management.

The community of Keyworth is organising to resist plans by Tesco to build a store in their village. Plans which were proposed after 90% of the community said they did not want a new supermarket.
