County Hall anti-cuts protest

On Thursday October 21st, Notts County Unison organised a demonstration at County Hall, West Bridgford against the cuts advocated by the Tory-led authority. Coming the day after the Coalition Government's "Comprehensive Spending Review," the event attracted around 500 people, a mixture of council workers, service users, campaigners and local residents.

Notts County Council announce £72m cuts

Nottinghamshire County Council announced plans to cut their adult social care budget by £72m over 4 years this week. The Tory-led Council said the cuts would be made to residential care homes, sheltered housing, women’s refuges and personal budgets for vulnerable people, and that the welfare rights service will be axed.

Nottingham revisits "Reform Riots"

On Sunday October 10th, Nottingham Radical History Group ("People's Histreh") organised a guided walk through Nottingham retracing the events of the 1830s "Reform Riots". Around 60 people turned up to discover the events that led to the burning down of the castle and what we know about some of the people involved,

Fuck austerity! Fight the cuts!

Militants attacked Nottinghamshire County Hall in West Bridgford last night. "Fuck austerity!" and "Fight the cuts!" were painted on walls and £10,000 of damage was done to windows. In an anonymous communique published on Indymedia, they claim that they will "continue to attack in solidarity with all those who are abused by goverments and banks in the name of capitalism".

The Nottinghamshire County Hall was attacked last night with hammers and graffiti. Messages of "Fight the Cuts" and "Fuck Austerity" were left on the walls of the entrance facing the trent, whilst several windows were smashed.

Notts County Council's "Big Budget Conversation"

Notts County Council are currently holding a "Big Budget Conversation". It all seems a bit like Turkeys voting for Christmas but it would be good if people could increase the amount of anti-cuts messages on

this. The council will also be revealing further cut plans this week.

Straw Bale work on eco-building in St.Anns Part 34

Work has been continuing at EcoWorks with the Straw Bale building in Nottingham. The building, now being fully enclosed with the main doors having being constructed and fitted All window frames fitted last year. Earlier this year, guttering and assorted woodwork has been completed.

EDL fail to make progress in Leicester

Public Consultation on open cast mining in Cossall

UK Coal to hold public consultation meeting on plans to open cast coal in Nottinghamshire.  Meetings will be at Trowell Parish Hall 17th October 10am till 2pm and 21st October Awsworth Village Hall 4pm till 8pm
