Earlier today in Nottingham County Court, a judge granted a possession order.  Meaning that the building that has been squatted for over a year, could be evicted at any time from now on.

Folks are preparing for all eventualities.  Begining with a banner drop to draw attention to these issues.

When / if they are evicted .... the building will return to being an empty eyesore with more bits continuing to fall off, and those currently housed there ..... become homeless.

Squatting is not a crime, but the owners right to just let it rot ... should be.

give em hell

If it's evicted, then raise all hell about the "owners" letting a listed building fall into disrepair, about the precarious state of the upper floors, and conservation concerns about endangered species living there... Maybe get the National Trust in *before* it's evicted.

I also hope that if they try it, this is the most expensive, longest drawn-out eviction in British squatting history. Blockade the main stairs, make them get in foot by foot.

Shame the owner wouldnt make a formalised deal with residents& let

them use most of the bottom 2-3 floors for at least 5 yrs whilst maintaining it& stopping further metal-tile stripping& window smashing, etc. The roof could be fixed more cheaply& it would be a win, win, win.
The TAO cafe organisation works & could be done here with a different organisation structure, also the building where shakedown was held is another example.
http://www.taonottingham.co.uk/
These squatters have stopped alot of destruction& have a good relationship with other locals, despite some students wasting police& firemens time.
The owner claims to be a christian who wants to use the buillding for community work, a true christain would have tried to strike a proper deal not cast out.

Has the owner got a plan or investment to conventionally fix the roof?Cranes etc would cost almost 2million.
Another large building in Radford called Club1 was a bullet riddled dump before activists turned it into a working club again& a successful base against the BNP. The owners evicted claiming they would renovate. There is now wasteland where it stood.
JB spray should be listed, preserved&used by community.

Another option is Compulsory purchase by the council for use as a community centre, offices& work space,
keep local supporters putting this forward, there is no way its worth 8million,with the state of its roof at the moment its worth 1.5million,maybe 1 in this dangerous state.

If evicted scrappers will likely demolish it with or without the owners consent &or activisrs will move in again& more taxpayers money may be wasted negligently.

I learnt the above mainly from the main organiser of Shakedown& legal black belt Steve Beonoris RIP,
a true Robin Hood& hero of our community, who set antibailiff precedents now defending millions of homes.
