Nottingham Trent University photography students degree shows have again been exhibited.
Over the last week, I've been to visit some of their many shows around Nottingham. I especially wanted to show you the work of Tom Willett who displayed a set of pictures of the JB Spray squat titled "Section 6"

Recent days have been fairly traumatic for the residents and supporters of the JB Spray factory Squat after a local organisation decided they wanted to use the space. The future of the beautiful building, which has been a long term home for many, is now uncertain.

A bunch of people concerned at the possible criminalisation of squatting, are looking into how we can open more 'community spaces'. Meeting in Nottingham, we have a mind to keep a list of suitable empty properties that need to be put to better use, than being empty!
Recently BBC Radio4 produced a program called: "From Frestonia to Belgravia, The History of Squatting"

An occupied autonomous space has been opened in Nottingham. The free space, at the former Conservative Social Club on Church Street in Lenton, is intended as a space to plan and discuss ways of supporting the strike on November 30th, as well as the wider anti-cuts campaign and other movements for radical social change.

Today Ken Clarkes home was targeted by squatters in protest against government plans to criminalise squatting. Squatters and supporters of squatting from across London stood on the porch of Clarkes terraced house unfurling a banner which read "housing is a human right" and served a mock six month eviction notice on him.

The article suggests that members of a sports club whose name they refuse to reveal may have benefitted from preferential treatment in the allocation of houses. I'm not so coy as the Post and I'd suggest that the sports club in question is the West Indian Cavaliers Cricket Club whose Honorary S…

The JB Spray Squat has been resisting the 'tactics' of Tracy the Portable Building Dealer and her two skinny sidekicks, for over a week now. Intel suggests, the eviction is due to take place this week, as Tracy, via the owner David Phillips, cannot afford an all singing all dancing eviction, and they are urging us to leave the building, clearly they are flustered and are probably losing money ever…

"As most 'activists' in the squatting community will confirm, the legal wrangling of bailiffs turning up and people being evicted from a site usually run along the same lines...The bailiffs turn up, with some lock smith looking (usually) blokes with tools and then get in any available entrance to get people out...Anarchist Zones are not so easy to get rid of though, as the following article o…

A judge granted a posession order for the JB Spray factory in Radford on Monday morning. The order gives the legal right for David Andrew Phillips, the legal owner, to evict squatters from the building which has been occupied since last Spring. This will make the current occupants homeless, and place a wonderful building back in the hands of someone who has left it to rot for many years. The occup…
