Many BBC journalist from the NUJ and technicians from BECTU walked out for a 12 hour strike today.  The action is part of their ongoing campaigns on pay, pensions, continuing job cuts, workload and bullying issues. In spite of their hype, the BNP are failing to make progress on the issue of the Skegness halal slaughterhouse. Their last demo was disappointing, turning out only 30 supporters, some of whom were so disappointed with the local organisation that they handed in their membership cards afterwards. Local activists blamed the time of year and lack of advertising for the poor turnout.

The 21 activists from No Dash for Gas who shut down EDF's West Burton gas fired power station for a week and then fought off EDF's £5 million lawsuit are being sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates Court at 10am on Wednesday 20th March.

Some defendnts face possible prison sentences.

Supporters are invited to come down and show solidarity outside the courtroom from 9.30am.
