Tuesday March 8th 2011 was the centenary of International Women’s Day. A series of events were held to mark this anniversary including an anti-cuts protest, a public meeting on the impact of cuts on women and a women’s history walk.

On Sunday October 10th, Nottingham Radical History Group ("People's Histreh") organised a guided walk through Nottingham retracing the events of the 1830s "Reform Riots". Around 60 people turned up to discover the events that led to the burning down of the castle and what we know about some of the people involved,

UNESCO has designated August 23rd International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition. The date was chosen to commemorate a slave uprising on Saint Domingue (now Haiti) which began during the night of August 22nd to August 23rd, 1791, an event which contributed to the eventual demise of the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

A BBC report about the International Brigades Memorial Trust display, recently hosted at the Council House. (This is a bit late as the display has now moved onto the People's History Museum in Manchester.)

On Sunday July 25th, People's Histreh and The Sparrows' Nest organised a showing of Ken Loach's Land and Freedom at the Broadway Cinema. The event forms part of a series of events in Nottingham commemorating the Spanish Civil War.
