Campaigners from Nottinghamshire Save Our Service (Notts SOS) protested outside Virgin Media on Clumber Street, Nottingham today (Saturday July 9th) against governments plans to open the NHS up to private companies.

Campaigners in Nottinghamshire will celebrate the 63rd birthday of the founding of the National Health Service (NHS) on Tuesday 5th July 2011, by holding protests warning of the threat it faces from the coalition government.

Nottinghamshire Save Our Services (Notts SOS) are calling for a "day of action to save our NHS" on Saturday July 9th.

On Saturday 28th May, Notts Uncut organised an “emergency operation” in Nottingham city centre. They visited banks and tax dodging corporations to campaign in defence of the NHS. The protest was part of a national day of action called by UK Uncut.

On Thursday 21st April, Notts SOS, Health in Your Environment, Keep Our NHS Public and 38 Degrees held a meeting at the Mechanics' Institute to oppose the Social Care and Health Bill.
