On November 30th, an array of public sector unions will strike together against government attacks on their pensions. In Nottingham there will be pickets across the city, a march and rally, a critical mass bike ride and, in the evening, a meeting opposing cuts at the BBC.

The Bigger Society Social Club was evicted on Monday but events are being carried on at the Sumac Centre.

An occupied autonomous space has been opened in Nottingham. The free space, at the former Conservative Social Club on Church Street in Lenton, is intended as a space to plan and discuss ways of supporting the strike on November 30th, as well as the wider anti-cuts campaign and other movements for radical social change.

The Notts Free Space is now open to the public. We are occupying the former Conservative Social Club on Church Street in Lenton. Please come and support us tonight and tomorrow whilst we get off the ground. A programme of events will be taking place throughout the week.

The "Atos Two" were due in Nottingham Magistrates Court. Bailed for 9.45am a solidarity demo had been called outside at 9.30am.

In the run up to the mass actions and strikes on November 30 the government has begin its predicatble divisive counter attacks. It is encouaging people to be traitors to their class and to do the work of colleagues who are on strike. Lets just remind ourselves what a scab is.

This afternoon, Nottingham was preparing for the 'lets switch on the christmas lights in Mid November shindig'! [ba humbug, really]. 

With a week to go, a lot of planning is going on to make N30 in Nottingham a big day. This is an attempt to put it all into some kind of meaningful timetable.

Strike to defend pensions on 30th November

Our public sector workers strike on 30th November is growing, and some say will involve more workers than any action since the 1926 General Strike. Schools and health services, as well as central and local government, will see workers defying their bosses in defence of pension rights, and the wider attack on public services.

According to the Post (so it must be true) the council "says it has no plans to try to evict protesters camping in Old Market Square." But they "would prefer that the city centre was not used for encampments and feel that they cannot remain there indefinitely."
