Street Photography: Peter Jenkins - Photography Monthly November 2010

A splendid piece on issues and rights around street photography by local photographer Pete Jenkins.

In my experience, photographers still have some difficulties in taking photographs in public places actions etc.

There are agreed national and local 'Nottinghamshire Police Guidelines'. Many will know of the trouble I've had with many police constable in describing their actions.  This situation is improving, but there are still issues. :-(

The main difficulty is still from the non-warranted officers, wardens of various strips and private security guards ... all vastly under-trained. This is as true in Nottingham as anywhere else.  I recommend this guide to give you an overview surrounding these issues.

Indymedia: These links provide some of the background to my own legal adventures with Nottinghamshire Police, after agreeing these guidelines!
