Left Lion: Secretwalls Graff

The concept is an international one, it’s a battle of lyricless wit between choice graffiti artists across a wall wider than your mother's sari, judged 'Eight-mile' style by the audience, and with the incentive to be elevated through a national league system hoping to literally take on the world.

Artists were billed as performers and impressed everyone who went through the door or even just walking past. Even the police took time out of their busy schedule to come and support what they saw to be a positive event in contrast to their typical Nottingham Saturday night.

it's Birmingham vs Nottingham in a team battle, and there are many in-jokes and cunning implications throughout the art. The minor details are striking, often poking fun at one another in clever ways related to their styles and tendencies both on and off the graf scene.

The evening's Nottingham soldiers were Jimmy Summat, linchpin of the Livescribescorporate cartooning art team, Cam and Onga. Brum cohorts were Liskbot (robo-fetishist), Wingy, and, in a traitor manouvre, LeftLion's colleague and local organiser Rikki Finn jumped teams in an act of sportsmanship after Birmingham were a man short.
