Nottingham Post: LibDem Freepost Address "Sabotaged"
Tagged as: cuts freepost libdems liberal_democratsAccording to the Post, "The Liberal Democrats have been forced to close their city Freepost service after receiving hundreds of empty envelopes." This has apparently "cost the party almost £100 as it picks up the cost of any mail it receives, which is free for people to post."
The party demonstrated their civil libertarian credentials by rushing off to the police to report the "crime". Upon discovering that in fact no crime has been committed, councillor Tony Sutton whinged, "It ought to be a crime, it's stealing from us."
Until recently, the LibDems were largely ignored locally as an irrelevance. Now that the national party has decided to ally itself with the Tories' assault on the working class of this country, their local cronies can expect to be the legitimate targets of anger at the government's austerity drive.
Given his hysterical response to a few empty envelopes, you can't help feeling it won't take much to get Sutton to cry off.
