YouTube: Video of Kurdistan Solidarity Demo

While the world's attention has been focused on the wave of protests sweeping North Africa and the Middle East, there has very little said about protests in Iraq and almost nothing about those in Iraqi Kurdistan. This despite the fact that at least 8 people have been killed and 150 wounded in clashes between protesters in Sulaymaniyah and the militia of the ruling PUK and KDP parties.

Kurds in Nottingham organised a solidarity demonstration in the Market Square on Sunday 6th March. Placards declared, "Down with the Barzani and Talibani" (the leaders of the 2 parties), "UK, USA, Stop Supporting Dictators" and "Support the Popular Uprising in Kurdistan."
