Pentrich in Perspective
A look at the political, economic and social context of the Pentrich Rising of 1817 and its place in history
A talk by Gwyneth Francis.
Saturday 20th November, 2010, Somercotes Parish Hall, Nottingham Road, Somercotes, DE55 4LY, 2 pm (doors open at 1.30).
Gwyneth Francis developed a keen interest in history at an early age and went on to study history at college as a mature student. In the seventies she spent some considerable time researching the Pentrich Rising for a children's story. In recent years she has been involved in a number of local history projects and has just published a book on the support given to the miners by the people of Glossop.
