Organisers in Nottingham?
Are you talking about the organisers of the Nottingham event 99%? Or are you talking about global organisers?
I would be very surprised (and very disappointed) if the Nottingham people had those views. Can anyone involved in the Nottingham occupation confirm or deny?
If anyone seriously believes the cops are anything other than the attack dogs of the ruling class, they are deluding themselves.
You Deserve...
You'll either turn up or you won't. Just remember this, you deserve what you accept. If you don't believe that you deserve what the State is demanding of you, if you think that silent obedience and relentless tolerance of greed, incompetence and corruptuion is unacceptable, if you believe you deserve better, then come to Market Square and show them! Show them that you don't accept it, show them that you deserve better.
Oct 15TH
We aim to hold a peaceful protest to highlight to those that may not be aware of the injustices carried out on an almost daily basis by the corrupt and powerful.
We are all aware of the police's role in society, but lets not forget they have a duty to protect us as protesters also. Their will be no doubt opportunists looking to cause trouble that may or may not consider themselves associated with Occupy Nottingham. We do not condone this, want it, or will defend it.
By all means you have a right to defend yourself under law, however we would respectfully ask all protesters to consider their actions on how it will reflect on us as a group. This also includes other occupations around the country and world!
Our occupation will impact the local community in one form or another, and we want our community to be on our side, not against us due to the selfish actions of individuals.
If you are coming to start trouble you are not welcome.
We expect to be largely ignored by the media, however as shown in London last weekend, the BBC ignored the UK UNCUT Block The Bill demonstration until the police started to kettle peaceful protesters, most likely in hope they would be able to catch some violence on camera and villify the group. Lets not give them that opportunity.
This movement will only succeed without violence or acts of aggression.

Confirm or deny
So did any of the organisers threaten to hand violent protestors over to the police or not? This looks like a trolling accusation but Occupy Notts has not confirmed or denied it, even when asked to do so.
If they are willing to hand people over to the cops they are collaborating with the enemy.
not a troll
here's the offending comment:
"Can I just re-affirm that there will be absolutely no acts of violence tolerated by any genuine protestor, if anyone turns up just to make trouble, they will be willingly handed over to the police. We need the police on our side, they are the 99% too. So please people, keep it peaceful. :) ♥"
Shit stirring
I think some shit stirring is going on here. One of the organisers is adamant that no one has ever talked about handing people over to the police and they don't intend to do it. They're just concerned about people detracting from the main point of the event.
We've been trolled.

violence and police etc
hey, not to have a go, but one of the organisers has explicitly stated that anyone committing "violence" will be handed over to police. as the police, "are part of the 99%". they may well be, but they're also the armed wing of the state and are explicitly there to enforce the law. the same law that is point in place by the politicians and their mates you profess to despise. that means they can't be allies. sorry. that level of naivety probably means it's probably dangerous for me to take part.
And i'm not saying i have a plan to commit any acts of violence against person or property (big difference). but i reserve the right to defend myself.
hope some concrete gains come out of this. good luck!
