Council plans to develop the road junction between Alfreton Road, Bobbers Mill Road and Churchfield Road include the installation of CCTV. The council's explanation of and justification for the scheme have been described by a Notttingham Indymedia reader as "confusing."

The proposed Nottingham camera is at a busy junction with a mosque on it at the heart of the Bobbers Mill area, which has a large Muslim population. It is also a major route in and out of Hyson Green and Forest Fields, which also have large Muslim and immigrant populations. I wonder what reassurances the City Council have for concerned locals that they won't be using this camera to monitor who is coming in and out of these areas? I wonder what kind of access to their data the police will have?

hyson green (nyson clean)
Hi, to whom in may concern, my family has lived in hyson from as early 1890(maybe before) till the late 1980s, Pleasant Row to be precise, we where a big family 10 in all, most worked in the local industries players/Raleigh/jersey Kapwoods/Gerard’s soaps/ship stones breweries/Weldon’s & Wilkinson’s hosiery/smiths and Dennis valve makers the list goes on, sadly all gone now and distant memories, we had nothing except each other and our neighbours. Black/white/Asian/Irish/Scottish/polish, we all got on, we had too!!nobody was given us free handouts, the local shop keepers used to let you have things on tick (a life saver to big families and no interest), jack Danby’s fruit/Gordon Edowes butchers great hyson green names, rob the gas meter to pay them at the end of the week, and the pubs cricket players/old general/smiths arms/the Lang ham/got pissed and thrown out of them all. oh happy times, the police used to have a crackdown now and again but they did go too far in the mid seventies and we had a mini riot lockdown on kirkstead street/lasted about four weeks police on every corner, it was around goose fair time, no trust was ever put in them again, my grandma was actually in Saturday night Sunday morning Alan silitoe master piece, afraid to say had no idea what real life in Radford/hyson green/Bulwell was like. he was probably from a posh part, not like us tin bath hanging on a nail, no hot water just a geezer(ascot)boy how did we survive. Berridge road juniors with the nit nurse/hympitigo/cold sores/ and bullying at its best (that was from the teachers) so if you live there now just remember you have got it so good.
