The occupation of the Market Square, continues ......
Last night, people moved their tents and kit from the area immediatly outside the Council House, to the other end of the square, adjacent to the water feature.
The council wanted the site to erect a christmas tree. Also there were other events the protest would have disrupted. Numbers have since swelled even more.
This morning, there was also a related gathering:
The Hardest Hit campaign Demo: Market Sq. Nottm

Hundreds of people had gathered in Market Square, to listen to speeches and offer support to the many disabled people being 'hardest hit' by Government Policies of cuts to services.

Occupy Nottingham
Part of a global movement in solidarity with other occupations across the globe.
We aim to occupy the Market Square Area of Nottingham from Saturday 15th October 2011 as part of an ongoing non-violent/peaceful demonstration.
Broadly speaking, we aim to show that we will no longer tolerate the corporate greed and Government corruption that threatens our way of life and everything we work for.
Currently our government strips away our civil liberties and public services, all in the name of greater profit for banks & corporations who exert far too much influence and control over our supposed leaders.
We want to encourage and inspire people to work together towards a fairer society for all, rather than the current system where the rich few get richer and the rest of us get left behind.
Ways you can help
Join us in our occupation
Tell friends and family about the movement
Donate food, water, clothing, blankets, tents, anything that will make our stay more comfortable - winter is coming! [See wishlist below]
Film us, take photos, question us - share the info with the world (the media certainly won't)

Beware of conspiracy theorists
I noticed that there are quite a lot of conspiracy theory placards citing Zeitgeist and Rothschild banks, etc. around the occupation. There also seems to be an element of individualist Freemen on the Land oriented non-politics as well. I hope that these trends aren't gaining ground too much and encourage class struggle people to challenge their presence. We need to counter this nonsense:

To help end the recession get a job
If all those people who are protesting got jobs and started paying taxes that would go a long way towards improving the economy.
Nottingham resident = fail
UK jobless figures are the highest they've been for 17 years (8.1% unemployment). Youth unemployment is over 20%.
The reality is that, as a result of the latest crisis of capital, there are nowhere near enough jobs to go round. If you've just left school or uni looking for work, your chances are slim.
Check the figures before you unleash your prejudices.
F**k off
Nottingham Resident you are a sad b****ard. Get back to your miserable life of exploitation by bosses and the state and leave freedom to people who know what the word means.
Radio Nottingham this morning.
Campers were on a phone in show on Radio Nottingham this morning. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00kwjt9/Mark_Dennison_25_10_2011/ interviews start at about 7mins in.

Hi Tash,
just had a listen to that for a couple of minutes.. That was enough for me, rightly or wrongly....
The presenter came across to me like a typical politely disinterested inoffensive narrow minded fence sitter.. Who would ask a few pointed questions, most of which would totally miss the point of the matter..
Because basically, he has very little understanding of what is happening in the world, & because of his own comparitive affluence, very little empathy with the victims of our greed (& corruption) culture.
So, needless to say, I didnt waste any more time listening to him or his programme..

Sorry if my perceptions or opinions expressed in my last post were incorrect in any way..
Its now the start of Day 13, & I for one hope that Occupy Nottingham are going to be there a long time..
I fully support the protest, & thankyou again for your excellent coverage & news of it ..

Delayed Action (for Banks only)
Thanks again NottmIndymedia for your great coverage, including the brilliant photos....
I noticed a placard saying "Blame Banks not Disabled".. & its rather relevant of course..
As we all know, there are all sorts of cuts planned & already implemented by our ConLib Demolition government.. None of which seem to have taken any longer than a few months to be enforced..
But, isnt it very predictable that the proposed regulatory measures for Banks wont be in force until 2019.. Please correct me if Im wrong with this..
If in fact it is correct, I think we can very safely say that is most definitely One Rule for the Rich & Powerful (Bankers), & A rather different Rule for the rest of us..
