Occupy Nottingham
Part of a global movement in solidarity with other occupations across the globe.
We aim to occupy the Market Square Area of Nottingham from Saturday 15th October 2011 as part of an ongoing non-violent/peaceful demonstration.
Broadly speaking, we aim to show that we will no longer tolerate the corporate greed and Government corruption that threatens our way of life and everything we work for.
Currently our government strips away our civil liberties and public services, all in the name of greater profit for banks & corporations who exert far too much influence and control over our supposed leaders.
We want to encourage and inspire people to work together towards a fairer society for all, rather than the current system where the rich few get richer and the rest of us get left behind.
Ways you can help
Join us in our occupation
Tell friends and family about the movement
Donate food, water, clothing, blankets, tents, anything that will make our stay more comfortable - winter is coming! [See wishlist below]
Film us, take photos, question us - share the info with the world (the media certainly won't)

Robin Hood in reverse
Its great to see these people in Nottingham (& other UK cities), letting the government/council/bankers/corporates know that many of us aren,t prepared to accept the greed, inequality, corruption, hardship etc. etc. any longer.. Millions of people working for an inadequate minimum wage, whilst the small minority take £millions..
In Nottingham for instance, more than a third of our children live in poverty.. Nationally, its around 25% of the population.... More than 2.5 million unemployed, including nearly a million 16-24 yr olds.... Interest free crisis loans to be abolished for people who are desperate..
More Residential homes (& the old people in them)being sold off like a comodity into the private sector.... NHS cuts (& indirect devious privatisation) imminent as part of government policy....You could go on & on..
It all adds up to increasing hardship for the most vulnerable & poor..Whilst the rich get richer, or at the worst, retain the vast wealth they already have..The 1% should be thoroughly ashamed, but they are morally bankrupt so theres no chance of that..
Its Robin Hood in reverse, & its been going on far too long.. More & more people will gradually join in protesting Im sure.. Its happening all over America at the moment, as it is in this country of course..
St.Pauls Cathedral has been closed earlier on Friday due to a peaceful occupation by people outside it.. Is their any public space outside the Houses Of Parliament?.. HaHa!!
All the best to you all at Occupy Nottingham....
