: Ken Coates: Obituary

Veteran peace campaigners, academic, writer and politician Ken Coates passed away on June 28 and was buried at Chesterfield Crematorium last week. Coates was a prominent figure in the "New Left," the editor of the Spokesman Magazine, the journal of the Nottingham-based Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation, and the author of an extensive study into the lives of slum dwellers in pre-redevelopment St Anns.
