On Saturday 28th July, we held an event at the Nottingham Mechanics, showcasing aspects of our work at the Sparrows' Nest by introducing two of our archival collections. Two members of the Solidarity Federation came to Nottingham and held great introductory talks, e.g. about the ideas and strategies of syndicalism (thanks again!).
About a dozen people attended and many thanks to all who came!

The disturbances which have swept London following the shooting of Mark Duggan by armed police on Thursday, has spread to Nottingham. According to Notts Police five of their police stations were attacked by groups of rioters last night, armed with ‘homemade incendiary devices’. Rioting flared up again last night in Nottingham as five police stations were attacked with homemade incendiary devices (i.e. petrol bombs). Canning Circus, The Meadows, Oxclose Lane, Bulwell and St Ann's police stations were targeted by rioters. A police car outside the station in the Meadows was also torched.
On Saturday July 17th Nottingham and Mansfield Trades Council organised a re-dedication of the memorial to the International Brigades at County Hall, West Bridgford.
