'Beyond Capitalist Society: Democracy, Social Ownership, and Participatory Planning'
Capitalism isn't working. Top-down Soviet Style planning didn't work either. Another world is possible, but how might it be organised? This talk will outline one possible architecture for a socially just, ecologically sustainable society: a political system based on representative democracy and the self-governing associations of civil society; an economy based on social ownership, defined as ownership by those affected by the use of the productive assets involved; and a layered system of bottom-up participatory planning at local, regional, national and global levels.
All are welcome.
