Sumac People's Forum: Feminist Revolution

November 23, 2013 11:00

Tagged as:

The Sumac Centre, 245 Gladstone St., Nottingham, NG7 6HX

Places:

A day of discussions, films, talks and workshops exploring the significane of feminist struggle in movements for social and economic justice, and the fight for a fairer and freer world. Themes include gender and sexuality, masculinity and patriarchy, and the intersection of sexism with other oppressions based on race, class, sexuality, ability, age and others.

We hope that this will provide an opportunity to meet others who are committed and passionate about the struggle against patriarchy, a space to exchange ideas, feelings, and thoughts, make new connections, and further the movement for women's liberation in Nottingham.

There will be a children's area set-up with a toy box and arts and craft materials, so children are very welcome to attend. However, the space is relatively small, so if people could let us know in advance if they would like to bring children then we can make the appropriate arrangements.

The Sumac is also wheelchair accessible.

The event will start at 11am and run throughout the day, with music and spoken word in the evening. People are welcome to stay for the whole day or drop in and out as they please. Lunch will be served at 12.30pm, and People's Kitchen, a big, vegan communal meal, will be served from 7pm.

Whilst it is not necessary to book, if you could let us know if you are planning to attend so that we have an idea of numbers that would be great.

All genders welcome.
