Film Friday: The Spirit of ‘45
A documentary on how the spirit of unity, which buoyed Britain during the war years, carried through to create a vision of a fairer, united society. Cert. U; 94 mins.
Timetable:
Arrive at 6pm for a bring-and-share supper: please bring food and drink to share if you can.
Three speakers to introduce the film at 7pm: (Speaker tbc) ‘Women Leading Learning' (WLL), WEA Women's Student Group:
‘Informal learning and community activism.
Alan Story, Founding member of Nottingham Left Unity and various activist groups: ‘Democratic engagement in action; widening participation'
Professor David Crouch, Notingham Quakers and University of Derby: ‘The Left's greatest moment'.
The film will begin at 7.30pm, finishing at 9pm to allow time for informal discussion between attendees before the event finishes at 9.30pm.
