“WORKERS OF THE WORLD UNITE?” GLOBALISATION AND THE QUEST FOR TRANSNATIONAL SOLIDARITY.
CAFE ECONOMIQUE - PROF ANDREAS BIELER
As we know, many countries across Europe have been hit by economic recession. In some countries, there is a growing resistance to cutbacks and attacks on our living standards; other countries have been relatively quiet. How strong is this fight-back campaign? What are its weaknesses? What roles are - and should - trade unions be playing? In a month when a ‘war on welfare’ has broken out in our country, Café Economique will be holding a timely session entitled “WORKERS OF THE WORLD UNITE?” GLOBALISATION AND THE QUEST FOR TRANSNATIONAL SOLIDARITY. Our speaker will be Andreas Bieler, a professor of political economy at the University of Nottingham. Lots of time for debate and discussion.
