The Sumac Centre, 245 Gladstone Street, Forest Fields

Places:

Two activists and film makers from Berlin are in the UK to show their latest films, as well talk about as their forthcoming film about activists spied upon by undercover police. NOISE AND RESISTANCE (2011, 90mins, Germany) with its director Francesca Araiza Andrade What some would describe as mere din and nuisance, is a vital articulation of resistance. Punk is neither a passing fad nor a dusted relic from the past but the lively expression of an attitude towards life. Be it squatters in Barcelona, anti-fascists in Moscow, Dutch trade unionists, the activists of England’s Crass collective, queer trailer park inhabitants in Berlin, or Swedish girl punk bands, their music always expresses a vivid, vibrant, rebellious collective self-assertion. “Noise and Resistance” is an inspiring journey through Europe’s subcultural places of desire where unity derives from autonomy along with the best punk sound you’ve heard for years. Trailer & Info: http://www.noise-resistance.de/ There will also be short film about Japanese student movements from 1968 to today, by Jason Kirkpatrick. See: http://actioninasia.wordpress.com/ The two film makers are also embarking on a film about undercover police infiltration of the protest movement and will be talking about that, with clips of activists who were infiltrated in Germany by Simon Bromma and Mark Kennedy.
