Notts Uncut are proud to be supporting Barnsley Uncut on their first ever action. This is what they have to say.
The nasty Tory cuts start to bite. Yet again Barnsley will take the brunt of the attack. Therefore, we are proud to announce the founding of Barnsley (tarn) Uncut. We will occupy the banks that stole our money. We will occupy the shops owned by billionaires that don't pay any tax. We will show the people of Barnsley; why our hospitals have got less money, why all our public services are being sold off to the billionaires that caused the crisis.
Sheffield Uncut,Leeds Uncut, Doncaster Uncut Bradford Uncut, should all be supporting Barnsley in this, their first action. Barnsley, along with many other towns across the north, is set to suffer badly from the cuts. We need to help them fight back.
We will be meeting outside Nottingham railway station between 9 and 9.15 to give us time to buy tickets and be on the 9.45 train. The cheapest way to get there (concentrate now - it's complicated) is to travel in groups of 4 and split the tickets. So you need to buy a Group Save 4 (4 people for £23) or or Group Save 3 (3 people for £22.75) for the 9.45 East Midlands train (and it must be the East Midlands one otherwise it's not valid) from Nottingham to Sheffield and a separate cheap day return from Sheffield to Barnsley which is £4.40 each. You can buy both tickets at the same time at Nottingham ticket office. So if you can travel in groups of 4 the return journey will cost £10.15. Remember that you need to make sure you also travel back in your groups so that the tickets are valid - we don't want anyone getting stranded!! We can sort out the groups at the station on the day so don't worry about coming on your own - although if you can persuade 3 friends to come too that's even better!
