A public meeting will be held at 6.30pm on Monday 19th July in the Richmond House common room at the Grove School. Save Newark Schools urges all residents of Newark and the surrounding area to attend this meeting to show your support for secondary education in Newark.

The meeting has been organised by a group of parents of pupils at the Grove School who are angry about the Government's decision to scrap the planned rebuilding of the school. Improvements planned for the Magnus and Orchard schools have also been scrapped after the Government cancelled the Building Schools for the Future programme.

Speaking to the Newark Advertiser a representative of the parents who have organised the meeting, Mrs Pamela Durney, said "If we allow our local schools to decline it is bad news for the whole community and the whole town.
It drags the town down if we haven't got quality schools to educate our young people. On the upside if we do it raises the morale of the area, the standard of young people coming through for employment, and attracts people who can contribute to the community."

Please support Mrs Durney and her fellow parents by attending Monday's meeting and giving your support, ideas and time to the fight to improve Newark's schools.

“Save The Grove School Balderton new building programme for a better future”

http://newarkresidentsviews.wordpress.com/
The future is in our hands for our young people, yesterday I cycled to The Grove School in Balderton. I heard their cry for help so I have setup a Petition.
We all have to do something before it’s to late. I really think this is an important cause, and I’d like to encourage you to add your signature, too. It’s free and takes just a few seconds of your time. Your signature is valuable and makes a real difference. Please encourage others to sign the petition as well. Forward the text below to everyone who might be interested. I wanted to draw your attention to this important petition that I setup on Tuesday 20th July 2010.

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to save “Building Schools for the future programme”. We are angered by a decision to scrap a multimillion pound for a new transformation of The Grove School in Balderton near Newark Nottinghamshire. We need to start transforming The Grove School for a better future, let’s rebuild and safeguard Balderton-Newark for a better tomorrow for our young people before it’s to late. The Grove School is an 11 – 18 community school and Specialist Science College. We all need to do something in the public interest to start to ensure our schools are transformed with better building for the future.
