My experience of arms dealers

As part of the protests against DSEI in London a number of use managed to get a one night booking at the Novotel which is inside in the security barrier and was a popular hotel with arms dealers.  We had planned to leave leaflets and stickers inside the hotel and perhaps even have some fun sending a few of them in the wrong direction :-)

Last week saw peaceful days of action co-ordinated by the 'Stop the Arms Fair Coalition' in response to the bi-annual arms fair DSEi (Defence & Security Equipment International) at the London ExCel Centre. DSEi is the world's largest arms fair and it exists so that arms buyers and sellers can come together, network and make deals.

Vegan Festival at Nottingham Green Festival

PLANS for an open cast mine in Trowell have been put back after the planning application was declared "invalid".

 

UK Coal applied for permission to extract 1.275 million tonnes of coal and 250,000 tonnes of fireclay by opencasting at Shortwood Farm.

Nottingham Green Festival + Vegan Festival

The Nottingham Green Festival is confirmed for Sunday 1st September.



The event, now in its 22nd year, is independently organised by grass routes community based volunteers, with no statutory funding. The ethical standards and environmental / human / animal rights ethos of the event are long established, having evolved from the pre-history of the Nottm Peace Festival from which it has grown.

Now EDL jump on Skegness bandwagon

Following in the footsteps of the National Front and the BNP, the EDL went to Skegness to demonstrate against the halal slaughterhouse on Saturday. About 40 members of the far right group turned up carrying English and British flags and pictures of cows on sticks. They’re obviously not that clued up on how halal slaughter works.

I guess this means that they are troubled by action and the critical postings there. Good! keep it up!

They are obnoxious in their view that operating workfare schemes were an unemployed / homeless person can be sanctioned [benefits removed] for not doing as they are told. Tough love. .....…
