Neighbourhoods: university

Students at Nottingham University have occupied The Great Hall in The Trent Building on University Park.

They say:

1. We demand that the University of Nottingham lobby the Russell Group and the government and issue a statement condemning all cuts to higher education, the EMA and the rise in tuition fees.

2. We demand that the University of Nottingham implement a complete open book policy in regards to existing budget constraints

3. We demand that the University of Nottingham ensure no redundancies for teaching, research or support staff.

4. Ensure that no victimization or repercussions for anyone participating in the occupation.

5. Allow free access in and out of the building.

The World Is Our Shared Inheritance!

In Britain, a very small minority claim ownership to the vast majority of the land and other resources. The vast majority of British citizens are born into wage slavery, a modern form of serfdom. This immoral situation can be traced historically and the template for this tyranny has been exported around the world to exploit other nations and peoples.

To my understanding, I confess to not being an expert but an interested party, land and natural resources are our collective, shared inheritance. We have been systematically robbed and hoodwinked into believing otherwise. Tracing back my own family history, I find that my ancestors on my paternal side were Scots Highlanders of a Clan that was persecuted and driven off the land by these Robber Barons, that we are now told are Kings, Queens, Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen!

These were known as the 'Highland Clearances' which were followed by the 'Enclosure Acts' where the unhappy and unsuspecting victims were driven into the towns and cities to labour for slave wages for their new 'masters'.

Of course, these things have been going on for millenia around the world, in places such as Babylon in ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Persia, China, India and beyond. These tyrants used the tried and tested methods of invasion and subjugation but these days they use more 'Scientific Methods', see Aldous Huxley and Bertrand Russel for more on this subject.

These days, people are usually subjucated with more subtle methods of control, such as Indoctrination in Education, and propaganda in Media and Entertainment.

People who have no free access to Common Land are to all intense and purposes slaves to the system and those who control the system. Invariably, those who control the land and the resources are able to take control of the Economic, Political, Education, Media and Security systems to carry out agendas that benefit the minority at the expense of the majority.

"If you tell a lie that's big enough, and you tell it often enough, people will believe you are telling the truth, even when what you are saying is total crap." -- Richard Belzer

It is my firm belief that the ideas of overpopulation is a myth and scarcity is a lie, to keep us in fear and under control. It has been said that the whole human population would fit into an area smaller than the size of Canada and even then there would be enough land to provide each family of four with 11/2 acres of land each, large enough to proved a self-sustaining food supply.

We must overcome our fear and look and the earth and it's resources as ours, we are all shareholders in this beautiful world. We ARE NOT slaves!

Apart from taking back the land, we must also devise a new political, economic, eduationsl, media and security system that truly serves humanity and not just the vanity of a few. The Law? The two main tenets of Common Law are 1 - Do no harm to others. 2 - Honour your agreements. Simply enough and covers just about everything.

Well, enough for now. Thank you for reading this and I hope it is of some interest and usefulness.

To all my brothers and sisters,

Love and peace!

P.S. Remember, we also have the advantages of modern technology and communications to help us now, our ancestors were not so fortunate. I'm sure we can develop the sciences even more to benefit society, once we have liberated the world and ourselves from oppression.

join in if you're around! they're still letting people in and out of the side entrance, at the back of Trent building.

Internet access has been cut to the hall, so if anyone has a mobile internet dongle (sp?) internet and is thinking of coming, then please bring it along.
