'Explosion of class anger' as protests against the Tory-imposed bedroom tax hit Bootle in Liverpool; protests planned in Nottingham on 16th March.

http://infantile-disorder.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/explosion-of-class-anger-at-bootle.html To summarise Infantile Disorder, hundreds of people rose up in Liverpool this week to protest the bedroom tax, to be imposed next month. The protests were organised by a grassroots movement called Stand Up in Bootle, which has generated huge amounts of support in recent weeks. Protests look set to take place in Nottingham in two weeks, on Saturday 16th March at the Brian Clough statue, 2pm. There seems to be a facebook page for further info, but obviously be wary of joining any sort of facebook group etc as it's so easy to monitor!!: https://www.facebook.com/events/613425092006763/ The tax means that tenants of working age who are deemed to have a spare room, will have their benefits cut. For a full list of those who will be affected see: http://www.housing.org.uk/policy/welfare_reform/%E2%80%98under-occupation%E2%80%99_penalty.aspx As the list makes clear, as well as being one of the more overt attacks of class-aggression from the government (which is saying something!), the tax looks set to disproportionately impact upon vulnerable tenants (the Scottish Daily Record, for instance, suggests that 8/10 people who look set to be affected by the tax are disabled). Separated parents will also face difficulties if they currently share childcare, with one parent being designated as 'main' carer making the other parent face the tax (leading to welfare minister Lord Freud telling a father of three that his children should 'share the sofa' when they stay with him!). A proposed mansion tax, of course, is vehemently being opposed by the Conservatives.

thanks for posting

this is simply to make those less well off suffer. you are not allow to even have a spare room, where as the wealthy can multiple houses which are empty most of the time. now that swatters rights have been removed how can these properties be returned to useful spaces?

Bedroom tax & Cameron evil

Definetly going to protest this evil tax. Cameron and his droogs are low empathy people, they cannot relate to ordinary people. We all need to stand together, even if bedroom tax does not directly affect you. I read the following saying awhile ago; 'Only when we see another’s plight as our own, will we change the world'
Never a truer a word spoken. See ya there.

THEY ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER

I agree with both of you.. As for politicians, I wouldnt give any of them room space (especially the spare room). & I dont trust any of them any further than I could throw two of `em.. Please see my "title"..

The "Bedroom Tax" is just one of the many never ending cuts/changes etc. that distract many people while the government/authorities go full steam ahead with their back door NHS privatisation.. They (& their wealthy business friends) are DEFINITELY all in that together..
