Coming Soon: New Indymedia
Tagged as: indymediaNeighbourhoods: east-midlands nottingham
Hi ! Welcome to the proposed new Nottingham Indymedia site. This is currently a work in progress and a lot will be changing over the coming weeks and months. The current site you're familiar with is still available and still being updated. Updates here will be less frequent, but you are urged to try it out - so click that publish button, and have a go! Let us know what you think.

The new site is based on a brand spanking new content management system, already used by London and Denmark Indymedia. It's called Hyperactive and it's an open source programme specifically designed for use by Indymedia.
We've decided to make the change to keep up with the developments in "Web 2.0."
When Indymedia started life in November 1999, the idea of a site on which users could contribute their own stories was a radical one. Ten years later, "user generated content" is taken for granted. YouTube, Facebook, MySpace and so on host millions of images, videos and audio files.
The old Notts Indymedia system allowed all of these things, but it wasn't exactly easy. Uploading videos, for instance, required the user to understand the dark arts of FTP.
The new site should make all this more straightforward. If you do have any problems, let us know. We realise not everything's quite the way it should be, but we're working on it. So let us have your constructive criticism.
