On Saturday March 10th, constituents of Anna Soubry's Broxtowe constituency displayed postcards signed by over 500 people asking her to reconsider plans to privatise the NHS.

They gathered outside Beeston Library where Anna Soubry was meant to be holding a surgery. Unfortunately when Ms Soubry heard of this she changed the location of her surgery.

On a previous Saturday in Beeston local people had queued to sign the postcards. Public feeling against the governments Health Bill was strong.
It is a pity that Ms Soubry avoided this visual display of her constituents views.

Post cards delivered

The 500+ postcards were delivered this morning to Ms SAoubry's constituency office accompanied by a letter as follows:

Dear Rebecca,

Ref: Broxtowe Constituents Post Cards for Ms Soubry

Please find enclosed 1260gms of post cards (@2.5gms = 500+) from Broxtowe constituents keen to ensure that the Health and Social Care Bill is dropped forthwith and requesting that Ms Soubry provide assurance that she will respond to their concerns by opposing the Bill.

Please note that most of the cards were collected in under 3 hours at our stall in Beeston on Saturday 25 February. Further cards were signed at our stall at Beeston Library on Saturday 10 March. We are clear that we could easily have collected substantially more.

We were disappointed that Ms Soubry did not hold her surgery at the Library on Saturday and chose not to receive the cards from us then. We got the sense that she may be trying to avoid this issue and the weight of support for our position amongst her constituents, whom she currently represents in Parliament.

We hope that Ms Soubry will reconsider her position on this vitally important matter and notify the senders and the public at large as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely

Thanks to all those who took part on Saturday.
