Direct action was taken against Ken Clarke's constituency offices on Thursday. While doughnut eating cops were dozing near by, the Tory social club on Rectory Road, West Bridgford had its doors D-locked shut and "Tory Scum" painted on it. The offices of the Rushcliffe Conservative Association across the road were attacked with paint and the messages "Class War" and "Fuck Ken in the Head" were painted.
Why the Tories?
Because they are the political wing of the ruling class of this country.
Because they are ruthlessly exploiting the recession to dismantle public services in order to make more profits for their friends, the captains of industry. This was a small act of defiance against the class that attacks us every day. Our message to them is simple: We are everywhere. We can attack at any time.
Why Ken Clarke?
Because he is a captain of industry himself, a rich parasite who is only too happy to help the Tories in order to help himself.
Because he can make light of rape, upholding patriarchal values, whilst wielding a huge amount of power over how its victims are dealt with.
Because he is the prison governor of UK PLC, the man in charge of injustice and unfreedom. His work over the past year has involved denying legal aid to people who can't afford to pay for a solicitor and putting more prisons into private hands, such as the recent move to privatise Birmingham Prison, to make profit out of misery. This action coincided with the national day of action to defend legal aid.
This action is dedicated to all those experiencing the extreme state repression of the UK prison system for resisting the state and capitalism. In particular we express solidarity with Edward Woolward, jailed for his part in smashing the Tory HQ in Millbank and David and Little Joe Foster, jailed for resisting the corporate state in Stokes Croft.
We also dedicate it to all of the women who have been misbelieved by the patriarchal justice system and have been convicted of making "false" rape claims. This includes Gail Sherwood, accused of lying that she was raped and "Sarah" who was convicted for retracting an accusation of rape (even though she was forced to do this by the rapist's family).

Not a bad action
It's funny how the moment anyone gets off their arse and goes out to the streets to do something it's welcomed by a chorus of abuse by the supposedly radical community. This is hardly constructive criticism, is it? Makes me wonder what perfect direct action these armchair critics engage in, if anything. Come on and enlighten us all with how it should be done, oh possessors of superior wisdom!
I for one congratulate whoever did this for not settling for the bigger cages and longer chains that Anon would like to see and actually talking about class for a change, something the anti-cuts movement seems to have forgotten. DanB, do you think that class stopped existing once the '70s were over?
I'm not suggesting that actions like this are the only way forward, or the best. That said, I don't see why they should get all the abuse whilst so many so-called anarchists and revolutionaries sit around doing fuck all. If you're going to criticise, at least have some positive ideas about the way forward and actually DO something to make them happen.

Support the action, but to 'not a bad action', just to point out that many people who comment on indymedia are just trolls out to stir up shit and cause problems. Its knwon that fash and police like to post up stuff to be devisive. Because everything is anonymous (or should be) we do not know who they are. So simply because someone posts something, does not mean that that they are part of the 'radical' movement in anyway.

Ken clarke put his foot in his mouth a tiny bit & some in better than thou "left"& right on crowd+ his enemies in the tory party who are pro war must be loving this, nice one.
Well done for trying to help keep one of the only decent tory mps down.
You look at things so black & white& you give us all a reputation as jumped up idiots with actions like this. Maybe one day you can be as cool as baider meinhof& red brigades who were played by P2& operation gladio as proven in Italy with the aldo moro case etc.
Why dont you dlock the door of tony blair, or even better help with legal cases against people like him & Bush& any oiligarchs supporting him

Not sure why you're so keen on Ken Clarke - the fact that he's a 'nice' Tory isn't saying much, and some of the things that he said about rape are pretty disgusting, not just putting his foot in his mouth. Let's not forget the fact that he is a millionaire and was a director of tobacco giant BAT which was alleged to have lobbied for rejection of stronger health warnings on cigarettes in the developing world and aiming advertising at children.
I'm sure the kind of people who would lock Ken Clarke's doors would also be up for locking Tony Blair's, but I reckon Blair's got better security! D locks and spray paint are hardly Baader Meinhof anyway are they? The best legal and peaceful campaigns have always had an element of direct action to back them up.
Anyway, hope you'll see that a diversity of tactics is a good thing and won't see things as black and white yourself ;)

Has the author of this rubbish actually read Breaking the Cycle? I hate the Tories, but at least Ken Clarke wants to reduce the prison population, reform the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and reduce the use of remand. Yes, this is due to his intention to reduce the prison and probation budget by 20%, but at least Ken Clarke isn't committed to penal expansionism, like his predecessor Michael Howard.
