Leicestershire County Council has announced that a decision on whether UK Coal's application for an opencast mine on the Minorca site can go ahead will be made on Thursday 23rd June. The Minorca Opencast Protest Group in, PR 104, gives more information on this and what MOPG is planning to do to prevent this application from succeeding.

Yesterday some anarchists joined the UK Uncut demonstration in Nottingham with an EAT THE RICH banner and our own leaflets. The banner went down well with the public and started a few interesting conversations. We got rid of all of the leaflets we took (a few hundred) and found a fair amount of support for our ideas.

Reports on what's been going on since we won the first battle to Save Hayward House Daycare.
Last week saw two victories for local campaigns. Firstly, Hayward House Daycare has been saved from closure. Camapigners have welcomed the announcement, but remain wary. Meanwhile, Office Angels who have been the target of protests across the country (including in Nottingham) for refusing to pay a temporary worker, have now backed down.

A well attended public meeting 'Save Our NHS - Kill the Bill' at the Nottingham Mechanics last night highlighted the threat of the government's Health and Social Care Bill 2011. Around 100 people packed the main hall of the event organised by Notts Save Our Services and others.
